Dimensional Imaging has recently introduced a ground-breaking 4D surface image capture system that utilizes the Company’s world-leading DI3D™ passive stereophotogrammetry technology.
To capture a full color 3D video sequence of a dynamically changing surface, the 4D capture system uses a stereo pair of synchronised grayscale digital video cameras to capture a stereo video sequence of the scene. Each frame of the sequence is treated as a separate stereo pair of images and is processed automatically to produce a separate range map. All of the resulting range maps are then combined to produce a temporally varying sequence of high-resolution 3D images, which can be exported as a sequence of 3D polygon meshes.
A third synchronized color digital video camera can be added to the system to achieve simultaneous color image capture and hence allow a full color 3D video sequence to be produced.
